Why Buy a 2012 Honda Transmission from Auto Power Source
Every 2012 Honda transmission on this page is a used OEM unit pulled from a low-mileage donor vehicle, cleaned, inspected and matched to a VIN before it leaves our yard. We do not rebuild and we do not re-badge: what ships is the gearbox Honda built for the car, in the configuration the listing states.
2012 sits on a fault line. The Accord four-cylinder is still a stepped automatic this year — the CVT only arrives with the ninth-generation car in 2013 — so a 2013 Accord CVT is not a spare for a 2012 Accord, and vice versa. Meanwhile the Odyssey was already running a five-speed automatic on LX, EX and EX-L and a six-speed on Touring and Touring Elite in the same model year, and the CR-Z and Civic Hybrid use a belt-type CVT sitting behind an IMA assist motor, which is a third kind of machine again. We hold all of them and list them separately.
Most 2012 Honda transmission listings carry no case code at all — they are described by model, drive type, speed count and trim. That is honest to how the units come in, and it is why we settle the match on your VIN rather than on a code you will not find stamped anywhere useful. Send the seventeen characters and we confirm in writing which unit fits before you pay a cent.
Freight to the continental United States is included, every unit carries a warranty, and you have 30 days to send it back for a refund if it is not right. Our ASE-certified technicians check the fluid condition, the case, the mounting pattern, the drive flanges and the electrical connectors on every gearbox we list, and a 2012 Honda unit is bench-checked for shift-solenoid resistance and clean fluid before it ships.

2012 Honda Transmission Buying Guide
5 things to verify before buying a used 2012 Honda transmission:
-
Stepped automatic or CVT? On a 2012 Accord both the 2.4L four and the 3.5L V6 use a stepped automatic — the Accord CVT does not exist until 2013. The CVTs in this model year are the CR-Z and the Civic Hybrid, both belt units behind an IMA assist motor. These are different machines with different internals and different control strategies, so decide which one you have before you look at anything else.
-
Count the speeds on an Odyssey. The 2012 Odyssey ran a five-speed automatic on LX, EX and EX-L and a six-speed on Touring and Touring Elite. Same engine, same year, same body, two gearboxes. The trim on the door jamb and the VIN together tell you which, and we list the two separately so you can pick correctly.
-
Match the drive type, not just the model. Pilot, CR-V and Crosstour listings split FWD from AWD, and the Ridgeline runs the VTM-4 transaxle. A front-drive unit and an all-wheel-drive unit from the same model year do not interchange — the output arrangement is different and the rear driveline hardware will not mate.
-
Automatic and manual are not convertible. Several 2012 Hondas are listed both ways: Accord 2.4L in sedan and coupe, Civic, Fit and CR-Z. Swapping between them is a clutch, pedal assembly, flywheel, shift linkage and wiring job, not a transmission swap. Buy the one the car already is.
-
Confirm the match with your own VIN before you order. Your VIN settles the transmission code, drivetrain and build split in one step. Text it to +1-307-441-5554 and we will confirm in writing exactly which unit fits your vehicle before you pay.
Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any unit ships.
