Why Buy a 2012 Honda Engine from Auto Power Source
Forty-eight 2012 Honda engines are live on this page, and the count is the live active count, not a brochure figure. The Accord and the Civic together are two-thirds of the year: nineteen Accord units across the 2.4L four and the 3.5L V6, and thirteen Civic units spread over five genuinely different engines — the gasoline 1.8L, the Natural Gas 1.8L, the Si 2.4L, the hybrid 1.5L and a standalone IMA motor.
Seven of the forty-eight are half a hybrid, and that is the split that matters most on this year. Three listings are an Integrated Motor Assist ELECTRIC MOTOR with no combustion engine (Civic Hybrid, Insight and CR-Z), and four are a hybrid GASOLINE ENGINE with no motor (three Insight rows and the Civic Hybrid rows). We keep them in separate family rows rather than merging them, because shipping a motor to someone who needed an engine is the single most expensive mistake on a 2012 Honda order.
2012 titles print displacement and a VIN position, never an engine code. Where we name a code family — J35 on the V6 rows, K24 on the 2.4L rows, R18 on the Civic 1.8L — that is our read of the listing, not a promise stamped on the block. Your VIN settles it, and we confirm the exact unit in writing before you pay.
The VIN position moves on this year. It is the 6th digit on every 2012 Honda we hold except the CR-V, where it is the 5th digit (VIN M). Reading the wrong position is the commonest cause of a wrong order on this model year, so check the digit the title names, not the one you are used to.
Two 1.8L engines on this page are not interchangeable. The Civic GX runs on compressed natural gas and carries its own head, valves and fuel system; the six gasoline 1.8L Civic units will not substitute for it in either direction. The Civic Si 2.4L is likewise kept apart from the Accord and CR-V 2.4L rows — higher output, different heads and intake, no swap.
Every unit is compression-tested and leak-down-tested before it is listed, comes as used OEM from low-mileage donor vehicles, and ships with our standard warranty. We match the donor VIN to your VIN on our side so the engine that leaves the yard is the one your car was built with.
