Installation Protocol · Four Steps

Get the install exactly right.

Transmissions are unforgiving about fluid, cooling, and programming. Work through these four steps in order — each one is part of keeping your warranty valid.

🔧 Step 01
Step 1

Prepare the Vehicle

  • Remove the old transmission from the vehicle.
  • Inspect the transmission mounts and cooler lines for damage or wear.
  • If your vehicle has an internal transmission cooler (in the radiator), you must:

– Bypass it with an external cooler, or

– Replace it with a brand-new factory cooler.

  • Flush the system completely, including cooler lines and radiator, as required in the latest TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) from your vehicle's manufacturer.
🧰 Step 02
Step 2

Replace Key Parts

To avoid leaks or early failure:

  • Replace all external seals and gaskets.
  • Install a new transmission filter and pan gasket.
  • Install a new cooler (external or factory) as mentioned above.
🛢️ Step 03
Step 3

Use the Correct Transmission Fluid

STOP! Before you install the transmission or start the vehicle:
  • Check your owner's manual or service guide for the exact type of transmission fluid required.
  • Do not use "universal" or incorrect fluid — it can damage the unit and void your warranty.
  • Fill the transmission to the proper level using only the approved fluid.
💻 Step 04
Step 4

Programming & Shift Learning

  • Reprogram (flash) the transmission using factory dealer software before installing it.
  • If your transmission has adaptive shifting, make sure it is:
  • Flashed
  • Learned
  • Updated with proper shift adapt values
  • Skipping this step can cause shifting problems and void your warranty.
Before You Drive · Final Checks

The four-point sign-off.

Confirm all four before the vehicle moves. If any one isn't done, stop and fix it first.

Cooler lines are flushed
Correct fluid is used
Filter and pan gasket are new
