Why Buy a 2011 Nissan Engine from Auto Power Source
A 2011 Nissan is ordered by engine code and installation, not by displacement, and this year makes the point harder than most. The 4th VIN digit A alone covers seven unrelated engines in live stock: VQ40DE 4.0L (Xterra, Pathfinder, Frontier), VQ35DE 3.5L (Quest, Murano, Maxima), QR25DE 2.5L (Altima, Rogue), MR20DE 2.0L (Sentra), MR18DE 1.8L (Cube), MR16DDT 1.6L (Juke) and VQ37VHR 3.7L (370Z). Letter B covers four more and letter C three. We derive the unit from your model, trim and gearbox, never from the letter alone.
The 2011 Sentra is the clearest case. It ran three engines in one model year: the 2.0L MR20DE at VIN A in Federal and California calibrations, the 2.5L QR25DE at VIN B behind the CVT, and the same 2.5L QR25DE at VIN C behind the manual. The letter is following the gearbox, not the displacement, so a 2.5L Sentra is two different orders depending on which transmission the car left with.
2011 is the Juke's first model year, and all three of our Juke units are the 1.6L MR16DDT, a direct-injected turbo four at VIN A. They split by production date rather than by letter: two CVT cars either side of a break at the end of October 2010, and one manual from November 2010. The high-pressure fuel pump, injectors and oil-control hardware are what we check on these, and the date break is stated on the listing rather than averaged away.
The Pathfinder is the year's commonest mis-order. The body-on-frame R51 carried the 4.0L VQ40DE at VIN A and the 5.6L VK56DE V8 at VIN B in the same body, so two 2011 Pathfinders can share every panel and take engines that have nothing in common. We confirm which one your VIN resolves to in writing before a unit is picked.
Four of our 5.6L V8s carry no engine code in the title at all, only a fuel letter: Titan and Armada, two each, VIN A unleaded and VIN B flex fuel. The Pathfinder 5.6 is the one 2011 unit whose title does name VK56DE. Because both appear in the same model year we publish them as separate family rows and do not read the code across to the codeless units, even though the displacement matches. That is our read stated plainly, not a promise about what is stamped on a block we have not opened.
The Leaf is listed honestly as an EM61 electric traction motor rather than an engine, and the code is read off this year's own titles: the 2013 and later cars we hold carry EM57, so nothing is carried forward. It is supplied and bench-tested as a motor and reduction-gear assembly.
