2011 Used Nissan Engines For Sale

Every 2011 Nissan engine we hold today, sorted by engine code rather than by badge, because on this year the badge settles almost nothing. The Pathfinder takes either a 4.0L V6 or a 5.6L V8, the Sentra takes three engines, and the 4th VIN digit A covers seven unrelated units. Each is VIN-matched, ASE-tested and photographed before it ships.

2011 Nissan Engines In Stock by Model

Live inventory for model year 2011 — every model we hold, with the number of listed units for each. Tap one to jump to the listings.

Two further rows sit under vendor Nissan as "Avanza", a nameplate Nissan does not sell. Both carry genuine 5.6L V8 specifications and one fuel letter each, so they are counted in the family table and kept out of the model tiles. Text the VIN and we will confirm what the unit is.

Why Buy a 2011 Nissan Engine from Auto Power Source

A 2011 Nissan is ordered by engine code and installation, not by displacement, and this year makes the point harder than most. The 4th VIN digit A alone covers seven unrelated engines in live stock: VQ40DE 4.0L (Xterra, Pathfinder, Frontier), VQ35DE 3.5L (Quest, Murano, Maxima), QR25DE 2.5L (Altima, Rogue), MR20DE 2.0L (Sentra), MR18DE 1.8L (Cube), MR16DDT 1.6L (Juke) and VQ37VHR 3.7L (370Z). Letter B covers four more and letter C three. We derive the unit from your model, trim and gearbox, never from the letter alone.

The 2011 Sentra is the clearest case. It ran three engines in one model year: the 2.0L MR20DE at VIN A in Federal and California calibrations, the 2.5L QR25DE at VIN B behind the CVT, and the same 2.5L QR25DE at VIN C behind the manual. The letter is following the gearbox, not the displacement, so a 2.5L Sentra is two different orders depending on which transmission the car left with.

2011 is the Juke's first model year, and all three of our Juke units are the 1.6L MR16DDT, a direct-injected turbo four at VIN A. They split by production date rather than by letter: two CVT cars either side of a break at the end of October 2010, and one manual from November 2010. The high-pressure fuel pump, injectors and oil-control hardware are what we check on these, and the date break is stated on the listing rather than averaged away.

The Pathfinder is the year's commonest mis-order. The body-on-frame R51 carried the 4.0L VQ40DE at VIN A and the 5.6L VK56DE V8 at VIN B in the same body, so two 2011 Pathfinders can share every panel and take engines that have nothing in common. We confirm which one your VIN resolves to in writing before a unit is picked.

Four of our 5.6L V8s carry no engine code in the title at all, only a fuel letter: Titan and Armada, two each, VIN A unleaded and VIN B flex fuel. The Pathfinder 5.6 is the one 2011 unit whose title does name VK56DE. Because both appear in the same model year we publish them as separate family rows and do not read the code across to the codeless units, even though the displacement matches. That is our read stated plainly, not a promise about what is stamped on a block we have not opened.

The Leaf is listed honestly as an EM61 electric traction motor rather than an engine, and the code is read off this year's own titles: the 2013 and later cars we hold carry EM57, so nothing is carried forward. It is supplied and bench-tested as a motor and reduction-gear assembly.

Your 2011 Nissan Engine Options: Compared

Most 2011 Nissan owners face four real choices when the engine fails:

← Swipe sideways to see all columns →
Option Cost Reliability Warranty Fitment Match
Used OEM (this collection) $$$ Best Value High — tested Included VIN-matched
New OEM (dealer) $$$$$ 2-4× more High Manufacturer Exact
Aftermarket / Reman $$$$ Varies 6-12 mo May adapt
Junkyard $ Cheapest Unknown None DIY

Tested used OEM hits the sweet spot — same engineering as new, fraction of the cost.

2011 Nissan Engine Buying Guide

5 things to verify before buying a used 2011 Nissan engine:

  1. Start from the engine code, not the litres. Three 2011 Nissans badged 2.5 take different units: the transverse QR25DE in the Altima, Sentra and Rogue, the longitudinal QR25DE in the Frontier 2.5, and the hybrid-specific QR25DE in the Altima Hybrid at VIN C. The code plus the installation is the order.
  2. Settle the Pathfinder before anything else. 4.0L VQ40DE at VIN A or 5.6L VK56DE V8 at VIN B, same body, same year. Nothing on the outside of the truck tells you which, and the two share no accessory drive, no mounts and no wiring.
  3. On a 2.5L Sentra, say which gearbox. VIN B is the CVT car and VIN C is the manual, and they are separate part numbers. A 2.0L Sentra is a third order again, the MR20DE at VIN A, split Federal against California.
  4. Ask how a codeless 5.6L V8 was identified. Titan and Armada titles give displacement and a fuel letter only. We publish those by displacement and calibration and keep them apart from the coded VK56DE Pathfinder unit rather than assuming they are the same casting.
  5. Confirm the match with your own VIN before you order. Your VIN settles the engine code, drivetrain and build split in one step. Text it to +1-307-441-5554 and we will confirm in writing exactly which unit fits your vehicle before you pay.

Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any unit ships.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many 2011 Nissan engines do you have right now?
33 active units today across 13 engine families and 12 nameplates. The family table is generated from live stock, so the counts are what we can ship.
My 2011 Pathfinder is a 4.0 and the listing shows a 5.6. Are they interchangeable?
No. The 2011 Pathfinder took either the 4.0L VQ40DE at VIN A or the 5.6L VK56DE V8 at VIN B, and the two share no mounts, accessory drive or harness. Text your VIN and we will tell you which your truck takes.
Why do two 2.5L Sentras have different engines?
The VIN letter follows the gearbox on the 2011 Sentra 2.5: VIN B is the CVT car, VIN C the manual. The 2.0L Sentra is the MR20DE at VIN A, split Federal against California.
Is the Altima Hybrid engine the same 2.5 as a normal Altima?
It is titled QR25DE but sits at VIN C and is built for the hybrid driveline, so it gets its own family row and is never substituted for the VIN A Altima 2.5.
Some 5.6L V8 listings have no engine code. What are they?
The Titan and Armada units carry displacement and a fuel letter only, VIN A unleaded and VIN B flex. We publish them that way rather than labelling them VK56DE, because the Pathfinder 5.6 in the same year does carry that code and we will not read one across. Text the VIN and we will check the unit.
Do the 2011 Juke units differ from each other?
All three are the 1.6L MR16DDT at VIN A: two CVT cars either side of a production break at the end of October 2010, and one manual from November 2010. We state the break rather than averaging it.
Is the Leaf listing an engine?
No. It is the EM61 electric traction motor and reduction-gear assembly. The 2011 car uses EM61; later Leafs we hold use EM57, so the code is read off the year.
Does a 2011 Nissan engine use a timing belt or a chain?
We make no blanket claim on this year. Our design-era rule covers the older VG, E, KA, SR and GA families and no 2011 code belongs to any of them, so the cam drive is verified on the unit and stated on the listing.

Our 6-Step Inspection & Shipping Process

Every Nissan engine we ship has been through these six steps:

1. VIN-Matching
We match the donor VIN to your VIN to confirm the engine code (4th VIN digit), California vs federal emissions calibration, and drivetrain fit.
2. Tested & Verified
ASE-certified technicians compression-test every cylinder and run leak-down evaluation. Every 2011 unit has its installation and fuel calibration verified individually rather than inferred from the code, the codeless 5.6L V8s are separated by fuel letter before any unit is picked, the direct-injected MR16DDT is checked on the high-pressure fuel pump and oil-control circuit, and the Leaf EM61 traction motor is bench-tested as an assembly.
3. Noise & Smoke Verification
Units are run to verify normal mechanical sound and clean operation — catches internal wear static tests miss.
4. Visual Inspection
Every accessible component is inspected: turbos, manifolds, valve covers, housings, accessories, sensor harnesses.
5. Photograph & Catalog
Multi-angle photos sent to you BEFORE we ship for your approval.
6. Palletize & Ship
Strapped on a heavy-duty wooden pallet, shipped via freight at no charge.

Our Photos-Before-Shipment Guarantee
