Why Buy a Used Honda Engine from Auto Power Source
Honda builds some of the most durable engines on the road — K-series, J-series, B-series, and H-series powerplants routinely cross 200,000 miles with nothing more than oil changes and timing service. We have spent over a decade sourcing quality Honda and Acura engines from carefully vetted suppliers across North America. Our 969+ verified Honda engines span every major Honda family — from the high-volume R18 and L15B in modern Civics, to the K24 in Accord and CR-V, to the J35 V6 in Pilot and Odyssey, and the enthusiast-favourite B18 and H22A platforms. Every Honda engine we sell has been pulled from a low-mileage donor vehicle, cataloged by VIN, and held in our climate-controlled warehouse pending sale.
Each unit went through our six-step inspection — VIN-matching, ASE testing, noise & smoke verification, full visual inspection, multi-angle photography, and palletized shipping. Our ASE-certified technicians do the testing; rejected units never reach the buyer. Honda is unusually disciplined about engine-code segmentation: a 2.4L K24A2 from an Acura TSX is not interchangeable with a 2.4L K24A4 from a CR-V, and VTEC and non-VTEC variants at the same displacement have different ECU calibration and oil-pressure requirements. VIN-matching is therefore essential, and it is the very first step we run on every Honda order.
You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for identical Honda engineering, ship free on a heavy-duty pallet anywhere in the continental U.S., and get 30 days from delivery to return for any reason — no restocking fees. Up to a 3-year warranty covers you if anything goes wrong after install. Across 46,000+ engines + transmissions shipped, we have a 0% fitment-related return rate.

Honda Engine Buying Guide
Five things to verify before buying a used Honda engine:
-
Match by engine code, not just displacement. A 2.4L K24A2 from an Acura TSX and a 2.4L K24A4 from a CR-V have different power outputs and compression ratios. Confirm the full engine code from your hood sticker — or text us your VIN and we will identify it.
-
Confirm VTEC vs. non-VTEC before ordering. Many Honda engines have both VTEC and non-VTEC variants at the same displacement — wiring, ECU calibration, and oil pressure requirements differ between them.
-
For L15B turbocharged engines, ask about timing chain and turbo condition. Honda's modern 1.5T has had documented oil-dilution issues in certain markets. Our inspections flag timing chain wear and oil contamination specifically on these units.
-
For B-series and H-series engines, verify generation carefully. B18B, B18C1, and B18C5 are all 1.8L but vastly different in output and head design. H22A has multiple variants too. Send full VIN and trim for an exact match.
-
Always run the donor vehicle VIN if available. We provide this on request for any engine in our inventory — helping you verify mileage and service history before you commit.
Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any engine ships.
