Why Buy a 2021 Honda Engine from Auto Power Source
2021 is a year where displacement alone will not get you the right Honda engine. The 1.5L turbocharged four is the single deepest line we hold for the year, and it appears under four different model titles with three different VIN letters at the 6th digit and two output splits — 174 HP and 205 HP SI. The 2.0L four comes both naturally aspirated, split Federal and California emissions, and turbocharged in the Accord. Picking by "2.0L" alone is how the wrong engine gets ordered.
The listings for this year are titled the way the yard catalogued them, and we have not rewritten them. Where a title gives you a VIN position, that is the position to read on your own VIN: the 6th digit on Civic, Accord, CR-V, Odyssey, Insight and Clarity; the 4th digit on Pilot; the 7th digit on Passport; the 4th and 5th digits together on HR-V. One group of rows is titled Glc63 AMG S while carrying 1.5L turbo and 2.0L four specifications identical to the Civic rows — we have left that title exactly as supplied rather than guessing at it, so send us your VIN and we will tell you in writing whether one of those units is the engine for your car.
Three of the 2021 rows are hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicles, and in every case the listing is the gasoline engine only — the Accord Hybrid and CR-V Hybrid 2.0L rows, and the Clarity 1.5L row. The electric drive motor, battery pack and power control unit are separate parts and are not included. The Insight row is titled Gasoline for the same reason. If you need the electric side of one of those drivelines, say so when you text us and we will quote it separately instead of shipping you an engine that only solves half the problem.
Every 2021 Honda engine we ship has been pulled from a low-mileage donor vehicle, catalogued, and held in our climate-controlled warehouse. Each one goes through the same six steps: VIN-matching, ASE testing, noise and smoke verification, full visual inspection, multi-angle photography sent to you before we ship, and palletized freight. You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for identical Honda engineering, ship free anywhere in the continental U.S., and have 30 days from delivery to return for any reason with no restocking fee.

2021 Honda Engine Buying Guide
5 things to verify before buying a used 2021 Honda engine:
-
Read the VIN position the listing names, not just the displacement. A 2021 Honda title tells you where to look: the 6th digit for Civic, Accord, CR-V, Odyssey, Insight and Clarity, the 4th digit for Pilot, the 7th for Passport, and the 4th and 5th together for HR-V. Two engines of the same displacement with different letters at that position are different parts.
-
On the 1.5L turbo, settle the output split before you order. The 2021 1.5L turbocharged four is listed both at 174 HP and at 205 HP in SI form. They share displacement and share a turbocharger, and they are not the same engine — calibration and supporting hardware differ. Your trim and VIN decide which one fits.
-
On the 2.0L, separate naturally aspirated from turbocharged, and check the emissions split. The Accord carries a 2.0L turbo; the Civic carries a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine listed separately for Federal and California emissions. Ordering across that line means a unit whose calibration your car will not accept.
-
If your car is a hybrid or plug-in, confirm what the listing actually includes. The Accord Hybrid, CR-V Hybrid and Clarity rows for 2021 are gasoline engines only. No drive motor, battery pack or power control unit is included. Tell us which part of the driveline failed and we will quote the right piece rather than the nearest one.
-
Confirm the match with your own VIN before you order. Your VIN settles the engine, the output split, the emissions calibration and the drive configuration in one step — and it is the only reliable way to resolve a 2021 row whose model title does not read the way you expect. Text it to +1-307-441-5554 and we will confirm in writing exactly which unit fits your vehicle before you pay.
Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any unit ships.
