Why Buy a Used Infiniti Transmission from Auto Power Source
Infiniti's transmission catalog is a study in shared engineering — the Jatco family (RE5R05A, RE7R01A, JR913E, JF-series CVT, plus the JR710E hybrid) is shared with Nissan, the ZF 8HP is shared with BMW/Audi/Chrysler, and the 7G-DCT on the Q30 and QX30 comes straight from the Mercedes MFA platform. Every one of those is calibrated specifically for Infiniti applications, meaning a ZF 8HP from a Jeep or an F30 3-Series will NOT drop into a Q50, and the Mercedes 7G-DCT needs both the transmission and its mechatronic unit sourced together. Getting the wrong unit means TCM codes, wrong shift schedule, and driveability issues that will not clear with a reflash.
Every Infiniti transmission we sell has been pulled from a low-mileage donor vehicle, cataloged by VIN, and held in our climate-controlled warehouse. Each unit went through our six-step inspection — VIN-matching, ASE Shift-Testing through every gear under load, noise & smoke verification, full visual inspection, multi-angle photography, and palletized shipping. Our ASE-certified technicians do the testing; rejected units never reach the buyer. The Jatco JF-series CVT gets a full warm-up and cool-down cycle test, the JR710E hybrid unit is tested with its correct hybrid-drive interface, and the RE7R01A is tested in both RWD and AWD configurations depending on donor.
You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for identical Infiniti engineering, ship free on a heavy-duty pallet anywhere in the continental U.S., and get 30 days from delivery to return for any reason — no restocking fees. Up to a 3-year warranty covers you if anything goes wrong after install. Across 100,000+ engines and transmissions shipped, we hold a 0% fitment-related return rate.

Infiniti Transmission Buying Guide
Infiniti's transmission catalog draws from three separate engineering pipelines — Jatco (shared with Nissan), ZF (shared with BMW/Audi/Chrysler), and Mercedes (Q30/QX30). Each pipeline has its own compatibility rules. Five things to verify before buying a used Infiniti transmission:
-
ZF 8HP: Infiniti calibration is NOT interchangeable with BMW/Audi/Chrysler. The 8-speed ZF 8HP in the Q50, Q60, Q70, and QX shares the physical unit with BMW 3/5/7-series, Audi A6/A7, and Chrysler 300/Charger — but the TCM calibration, valve body settings, and shift map are Infiniti-specific. Do not source across manufacturers, even though the case looks identical.
-
RE7R01A: RWD and AWD are NOT interchangeable. The 7-speed RE7R01A appears in G35/G37, Q50, Q60, M-series, and FX/QX70. The RWD and AWD variants use different tail housings, output shaft geometry, and TCM calibration. Wrong drivetrain = wrong unit; always specify RWD or AWD.
-
Mercedes 7G-DCT: source transmission AND mechatronic unit together. The 7-speed dual-clutch in the Q30 and QX30 (2017–2019) is from the Mercedes MFA platform — if you source only the gearbox and try to pair it with a different mechatronic, you will get shift faults and undriveable behavior. We ship these as matched sets.
-
Jatco JR710E hybrid and JF-series CVT are year-locked and displacement-locked. The JR710E lives only in the M35h hybrid — it will not run a non-hybrid vehicle. The JF-series CVT (JF015E, JF016E, JF017E) subtypes are calibrated to specific engine displacements in QX50/55/60 — JF017E is NOT a drop-in replacement for JF015E. Provide your VIN for the exact subtype match.
-
QX AWD transfer case must be matched to the transmission output and front prop. On QX56, QX80, and QX60 AWD/4WD builds, the transfer case pairs with the specific transmission output shaft geometry and front prop interface. Sourcing a transmission without the matching transfer case (or vice versa) leaves you with an unusable driveline.
Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any transmission ships.
