Why Buy a 2024 Chevy Transmission from Auto Power Source
2024 was a year of real gearbox change at Chevrolet, which is why the model year on the tag matters as much as the model name. The Silverado HD dropped the 6L90 behind the 6.6L L8T gas V8 and moved to the Allison ten-speed, so for 2024 both the gas and the Duramax HD trucks run a ten-speed. The Traverse was all-new, retiring the 3.6L V6 and its 9T65 transaxle in favour of a 2.5L turbo on an eight-speed — and because the changeover straddled the model year, both gearboxes show up in 2024 listings. It was also the last year of the sixth-generation Camaro, with the 3.6L V6 on the 8L45, the SS on the 10L80 and the supercharged ZL1 on the 10L90.
Across the full-size line the 10L80 and 10L90 do the heavy lifting: Tahoe, Suburban 1500 and Silverado 1500 all run them, with the 3.0L Duramax paired to the ten-speed under option codes MQB and MQC and the 5.3L split between eight- and ten-speed builds by the MHS and MHT codes. The RPO code is often the only thing separating two otherwise identical listings, so every one of our 70 units carries its code where GM assigned one — and where a listing carries no code, we say so on this page rather than guessing which unit it is.
Every 2024 Chevy transmission we sell has been pulled from a low-mileage donor vehicle, cataloged by VIN, and held in our warehouse pending sale. Each unit goes through our six-step inspection — VIN-matching against your vehicle, Shift-Testing through every gear under load, noise verification, full visual inspection of case, pan and bellhousing, multi-angle photography for your approval, and palletized freight. You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for the same GM engineering, ship free anywhere in the continental U.S., and have 30 days from delivery to return for any reason with no restocking fees.

2024 Chevy Transmission Buying Guide
5 things to verify before buying a used 2024 Chevy transmission:
-
Read the RPO option code, not just the model. On the 2024 Silverado 1500 the 3.0L splits into opt MQB and opt MQC, and the 5.3L into opt MHS and opt MHT. On the HD the Duramax splits into opt MGM and opt MGU. Those codes are different gearboxes behind the same engine, and every listing carries the code GM assigned.
-
Count the speeds before you match a full-size truck unit. The 5.3L Silverado 1500 shipped in both eight-speed and ten-speed builds for 2024. Tahoe, Suburban and the 3.0L and 6.2L Silverado are ten-speed. Confirm the speed count on your case tag, because the bellhousing and the controller differ.
-
Check which Traverse you have. The 2024 Traverse arrived in two generations. The 3.6L V6 runs the 9T65 nine-speed transaxle; the new 2.5L Turbo runs an eight-speed. Your build date and engine settle which of the two fits.
-
On the HD, confirm gas against diesel. The 6.6L Duramax and the 6.6L L8T gas V8 both pair to an Allison ten-speed for 2024, but they are not the same assembly. Our listings separate diesel from gasoline and carry the diesel option codes.
-
Confirm the match with your own VIN before you order. Your VIN settles the option code, drivetrain and build split in one step. Text it to +1-307-441-5554 and we will confirm in writing exactly which unit fits your vehicle before you pay.
Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any unit ships.
