Why Buy a 2022 Chevy Transmission from Auto Power Source
2022 is the hardest Chevy year to match by nameplate alone, because Chevrolet sold two different Silverado 1500s side by side: the carryover truck, renamed Silverado 1500 LTD, kept the pre-refresh interior while the refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 arrived alongside it. Between them the 5.3L V8 shipped with three different gearboxes — the 6L80 six-speed (opt MYC), the 8L90 eight-speed (opt MQE) and the 10L80 ten-speed (opt MQB, MHS or MHT) — so two 5.3L 4x4 listings can be entirely different units. The 2.7L Turbo ran the 8L45, and the 3.0L Duramax LM2 and the 6.2L V8 were ten-speed only.
On the heavy-duty side the 6.6L Duramax diesel pairs with an Allison automatic under two option codes, MGM and MGU, while the 6.6L L8T gasoline V8 runs the 6L90 six-speed — the RPO label in the glovebox, not the tailgate badge, tells them apart. The full-size SUVs are simpler: every 2022 Tahoe and Suburban 1500 we hold is a 10L80 ten-speed, whether behind the 5.3L, 6.2L or 3.0L Duramax, and the Tahoe listings carry the transmission ID casting number. 2022 was also the Spark's final model year and the last year of the Camaro's Tremec TR-6060 manual behind the 6.2L SS.
Every 2022 Chevy transmission we sell has been pulled from a low-mileage donor vehicle, cataloged by VIN, and held in our climate-controlled warehouse. Each unit goes through our six-step inspection — VIN-matching, Shift-Testing through every gear under load, noise verification, full visual inspection of case, pan and bellhousing, multi-angle photography for your approval, and palletized freight. You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for the same GM engineering, ship free on a heavy-duty pallet anywhere in the continental U.S., and have 30 days from delivery to return for any reason with no restocking fees.

2022 Chevy Transmission Buying Guide
5 things to verify before buying a used 2022 Chevy transmission:
-
Read the RPO option code off your glovebox label. On the 2022 Silverado 1500 the codes MYC, MQE, MQB, MHS, MHT and MQC each mean a different transmission behind the same engine; on the HD diesel it is MGM or MGU. The code is on the sticker inside the glovebox door, and every listing that has one carries it.
-
Count the gears before you match the engine. A 2022 5.3L can be six-speed, eight-speed or ten-speed. A 6.2L is ten-speed only, and a 2.7L Turbo is eight-speed only. Confirm the gear count first, then the displacement.
-
Check whether yours is a Silverado 1500 or a Silverado 1500 LTD. Chevrolet built both for 2022. The LTD is the carryover classic-style body; the refreshed truck is the new style. We list them separately because the valve body calibration and the controller differ.
-
Match 4x2 against 4x4 — the tailhousing differs. Two-wheel-drive units carry an output shaft and extension housing; four-wheel-drive units are cut for the transfer case adapter. Every truck and SUV listing states 4x2 or 4x4, and the stop/start option (opt NSS) is called out where it matters.
-
Confirm the match with your own VIN before you order. Your VIN settles the option code, gear count, drivetrain and body style in one step. Text it to +1-307-441-5554 and we will confirm in writing which unit fits your vehicle before you pay.
Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any unit ships.
