Browse 2018 Ram Transmissions by Model
Pick your 2018 Ram model to see exact fitments in stock. 2018 is the last of the pre-split truck years — unlike 2019, the 1500 has one body and the Promaster has no build-date break — but the heavy-duty 3500 splits on something buyers miss entirely: who built the gearbox. Text us your VIN and a specialist confirms the match.
2018 Truck 3500 Series
14 units — the largest 2018 line and the one that needs the most care. The same 3500 was cataloged with either an Aisin Seiki gearbox (AS69RC behind the 6.7L diesel, AS66RC behind the gas Chassis Cab) or a Chrysler one (68RFE diesel, 66RFE gas). Pickup and Chassis Cab in 4X2 and 4X4, Chassis Cabs built with PTO (Left Side) or W/O PTO, plus one MT 4X4 6.7L.
2018 Truck 1500 Series
9 units, all automatic, on a single body — 2018 is a one-body year for the 1500, with no mild-hybrid variant in the range, so there is no lug-count or electrical-system question to resolve before you order. 3.6L, 5.7L and 3.0L (Diesel), each in 4X2 and 4X4; the 5.7L is cataloged as both a 6 Speed and an 8 Speed, and the 4X4 8-speeds carry Opt DFD or DFK.
2018 Truck 2500 Series
5 units covering the complete grid: automatic 4X2 and 4X4 in Diesel (68RFE) and Gasoline (66RFE), plus a manual MT 4X4 (6.7L, Diesel, VIN L, 8th Digit). The 2018 2500 names its gearbox code directly — confirm fuel type and drivetrain on the door-jamb sticker before ordering.
2018 Promaster
3 van units, all automatic and all straightforward — Promaster 1500 and 2500 on the 3.6L Gasoline Engine, with no Thru / From build-date split of the kind that divides the 2019 vans. Promaster City is a separate, smaller vehicle cataloged by part ID (68311492); do not cross-order it against a full-size Promaster.
2018 Truck 4500 Series
2 units — the medium-duty 6.7L chassis truck in 4x2 and 4x4, both automatic. The 4500 is stocked for 2018 and is a different vehicle from the 3500 Chassis Cab despite the similar body; order it by its own VIN, never by 3500 fitment.
Why Buy a 2018 Ram Transmission from Auto Power Source
Every 2018 Ram transmission we list was recovered from a low-mileage donor truck or van, cataloged against its donor VIN, and held in our climate-controlled warehouse pending sale. Nothing ships without clearing our six-step inspection — VIN-matching, shift testing, a road-and-shift-quality check, full visual inspection, multi-angle photography, and palletized freight.
Our ASE-certified technicians shift-test every gear and confirm clean engagement under load before a 2018 Ram transmission is cleared for sale. You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for the same Ram engineering, ship free on a heavy-duty pallet anywhere in the continental U.S., and get up to a 3-year warranty plus 30-day money-back. 2018 is a friendlier year to order than 2019 — one 1500 body, no build-date split on the vans — but a 3500 order still turns on which manufacturer built the gearbox, and two units in this collection are manuals, so the VIN remains the only safe way to order. Text your VIN and we will confirm.

2018 Ram Transmission Buying Guide
-
On a 3500, find out who built your gearbox. This is the 2018 mistake. Ram cataloged the same 3500 with either an Aisin Seiki unit — AS69RC behind the 6.7L diesel, AS66RC behind the gasoline Chassis Cab — or a Chrysler-built one, 68RFE on the diesel and 66RFE on the gas. Same year, same fuel, same drivetrain, different transmission, and nothing on the outside of the truck announces which one you have. The VIN and the build sticker do.
-
Check whether yours is a manual before anything else. Most of our 2018 stock is automatic, but not all of it: the 2500 MT 4X4 (6.7L, Diesel, VIN L, 8th Digit) and the 3500 MT 4X4 (6.7L) are genuine manual units and share nothing with their AT siblings. Read the 8th VIN digit on a diesel 2500 — it identifies the engine the manual was paired to.
-
On a 1500, match the displacement and count the gears. 2018 1500 stock spans 3.6L, 5.7L and 3.0L (Diesel) in 4X2 and 4X4, and the 5.7L was built as both a 6 Speed and an 8 Speed. The 4X4 8-speeds carry an Opt DFD or DFK sales code from the build sticker. Displacement alone will not narrow it down; the gear count and the option code will.
-
Separate Pickup from Chassis Cab, and check for PTO. On the 3500 the Pickup and the Chassis Cab are cataloged apart, and the Chassis Cabs are built either with PTO (Left Side) or W/O PTO. PTO housings are not interchangeable — a PTO case will not bolt into a truck that never had one, and vice versa. The 4500 Series is a different vehicle again; do not order it against 3500 fitment.
-
On a Promaster, do not assume 2019 rules apply. The 2019 vans split on a March build date; the 2018 vans do not — Promaster 1500 and 2500 run the 3.6L Gasoline Engine straight through the year. Promaster City is not a small Promaster, it is a separate vehicle cataloged by part ID (68311492). Send the VIN and we will place you on the right one.
Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any transmission ships.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the warranty on a 2018 Ram transmission?
Up to 3 years, depending on the specific unit. The exact warranty term is listed on each product page.
What does shift-tested mean?
ASE-certified technicians run the unit through every gear and verify clean engagement and shift quality under load before the transmission is cleared for sale.
How long until delivery?
Prep and ship time is 3-5 business days. Transit time is 2-3 business days via freight carrier after dispatch.
Can I see photos before I buy?
Yes. Multi-angle photos of the actual unit are sent before payment.
Do I need my VIN?
Yes. 2018 is simpler than 2019 — one 1500 body, no van build-date split — but the 3500 was built with either an Aisin Seiki or a Chrysler gearbox, the 5.7L 1500 comes as a 6 Speed or an 8 Speed, and two units in this collection are manuals. Your VIN settles all of it.
What if I do not approve the photos?
Every dollar back — no restocking fees, no return freight charges.
Why is this cheaper than the dealer?
It is the same Ram-engineered OEM unit, recovered from a low-mileage donor vehicle rather than built new. You skip the new-part markup and still get VIN-matching, shift testing and up to a 3-year warranty.
When can I reach your team?
