2016 Used Ram Transmissions For Sale

31 verified 2016 Ram transmissions are on the shelf — 29 automatics and 2 manuals. The heavy-duty Truck 3500 Series accounts for 14 of them and is the year's hardest order, because Ram cataloged the same truck with a gearbox built by either Aisin Seiki or Chrysler; alongside those sit 9 Truck 1500 Series units, the complete 5-unit 2500 Series grid, 2 full-size Promaster vans and a single Promaster City. Every one is VIN-matched to your vehicle, shift-tested by ASE-certified technicians, photographed before shipment, and backed by up to a 3-year warranty plus 30-day money-back. Browse 2016 Ram Transmissions by Model

Pick your 2016 Ram model to see exact fitments in stock. Two things separate 2016 listings that otherwise read identically: on the heavy-duty 3500, two different companies built the gearbox, and on the 3.6L 1500, whether the truck was ordered with Automatic Engine Stop And Start. Neither is visible from the outside of the truck. Text us your VIN and a specialist confirms the match.

2016 Truck 3500 Series
14 units — the deepest 2016 line and the one that rewards a careful order. The same 3500 was cataloged with either an Aisin Seiki gearbox (AS69RC behind the 6.7L diesel, AS66RC behind the gasoline Chassis Cab) or a Chrysler-built one (68RFE diesel, 66RFE gasoline). Pickup and Chassis Cab, each in 4X2 and 4X4; the diesel Pickup is stocked in both makes, the gasoline AS66RC Chassis Cabs split again into PTO (Left Side) and W/O PTO, and one unit is an MT 4X4 (6.7L).
2016 Truck 1500 Series
9 units, every one an automatic, on a single body. 3.6L, 5.7L and 3.0L (Diesel), each in 4X2 and 4X4. Two of the nine are the 2016 trap: the 4X2 3.6L is cataloged both with and W/O Automatic Engine Stop And Start, and that option — not the displacement, not the drivetrain — is the only thing separating them. The 5.7L is likewise cataloged as both a 6 Speed and an 8 Speed.
2016 Truck 2500 Series
5 units covering the complete grid: automatic 4X2 and 4X4 in Diesel (68RFE) and Gasoline (66RFE), plus a manual MT 4X4 (6.7L, Diesel, VIN L, 8th Digit). The 2016 2500 names its gearbox code in the listing itself — confirm fuel type and drivetrain on the door-jamb sticker and the code will follow.
2016 Promaster
2 full-size van units, both automatic and both straightforward — Promaster 1500 and Promaster 2500 on the 3.6L Gasoline Engine, running one specification straight through the year with no build-date break to work around.
2016 Promaster City
A single Promaster City unit: AT (9 Speed), 2.4L, FWD. The City is a separate, smaller vehicle rather than a short Promaster, and it shares no transmission with the full-size vans — so if your van badge says City, this one listing is the whole of our 2016 stock for it.

Why Buy a 2016 Ram Transmission from Auto Power Source

Every 2016 Ram transmission on this page was recovered from a low-mileage donor truck or van, cataloged against its donor VIN, and held in our climate-controlled warehouse pending sale. Nothing ships until it has cleared our six-step inspection — VIN-matching, shift testing, a road-and-shift-quality check, full visual inspection, multi-angle photography, and palletized freight.

Our ASE-certified technicians shift-test every gear and confirm clean engagement under load before a 2016 Ram transmission is cleared for sale. You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for the same Ram engineering, ship free on a heavy-duty pallet anywhere in the continental U.S., and get up to a 3-year warranty plus 30-day money-back. What makes 2016 worth slowing down for is that its hardest questions are invisible ones — which company built your 3500's gearbox, whether your 3.6L 1500 was ordered with Automatic Engine Stop And Start, and whether you are one of the two manual owners in this collection. Text your VIN and we will confirm.

Your 2016 Ram Transmission Options: Compared

Most 2016 Ram owners face four real choices when their transmission fails:

← Swipe sideways to see all columns →
Option Cost Reliability Warranty Fitment Match
Used OEM (this collection) $$$ Best Value High Up to 3 years VIN-matched
New OEM (dealer) $$$$$ 2-4× more High Manufacturer Exact
Aftermarket / Reman $$$$ Varies 6-12 mo May adapt
Junkyard $ Cheapest Unknown None DIY

Tested used OEM hits the sweet spot — same Ram engineering as new, fraction of the cost.

2016 Ram Transmission Buying Guide

  1. On a 3500, find out who built your gearbox. This is the 2016 mistake, and it is the expensive one. Ram cataloged the same 3500 with either an Aisin Seiki unit — AS69RC behind the 6.7L diesel, AS66RC behind the gasoline Chassis Cab — or a Chrysler-built one, 68RFE on the diesel and 66RFE on the gas. Our 2016 stock holds the diesel Pickup in both makes, in both 4X2 and 4X4: same year, same fuel, same drivetrain, different transmission. Nothing on the outside of the truck announces which one you have. The VIN and the build sticker do.
  2. On a 3.6L 1500, check for Automatic Engine Stop And Start. The 4X2 3.6L is cataloged twice for 2016 — once with Automatic Engine Stop And Start and once W/O it — and that option is the only thing that separates the two listings. It is a real fitment difference, not a trim note, and it is invisible from under the truck. If your 3.6L shuts the engine off at a red light, you need the stop/start unit.
  3. Check whether yours is a manual before anything else. Most of our 2016 stock is automatic, but not all of it: the 2500 MT 4X4 (6.7L, Diesel, VIN L, 8th Digit) and the 3500 MT 4X4 (6.7L) are genuine manual units and share nothing with their AT siblings. On a diesel 2500 the 8th VIN digit identifies the engine the manual was paired to — read it before you order.
  4. On a 5.7L 1500, count the gears. The 2016 5.7L was built as a 6 Speed and as an 8 Speed, in both 4X2 and 4X4, and our listings separate those by gear count and nothing else. Displacement alone will never narrow the order down — a 5.7L 4X4 is still two different transmissions until you know how many gears are in it.
  5. Separate Pickup from Chassis Cab, and check for PTO. On the 3500 the Pickup and the Chassis Cab are cataloged apart, and the gasoline AS66RC Chassis Cabs are built either with PTO (Left Side) or W/O PTO. PTO housings are not interchangeable — a PTO case will not bolt into a truck that never had one, and a plain case cannot be adapted to drive one.

Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any transmission ships.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the warranty on a 2016 Ram transmission?
Up to 3 years, depending on the specific unit. The exact warranty term is listed on each product page.
What does shift-tested mean?
ASE-certified technicians run the unit through every gear and verify clean engagement and shift quality under load before the transmission is cleared for sale.
How long until delivery?
Prep and ship time is 3-5 business days. Transit time is 2-3 business days via freight carrier after dispatch.
Can I see photos before I buy?
Yes. Multi-angle photos of the actual unit are sent before payment.
Do I need my VIN?
Yes. Three 2016 questions cannot be answered by looking at the truck: whether your 3500's gearbox came from Aisin Seiki or Chrysler, whether your 3.6L 1500 was ordered with Automatic Engine Stop And Start, and — on the 5.7L — whether you have the 6 Speed or the 8 Speed. Your VIN settles all three.
What if I do not approve the photos?
Every dollar back — no restocking fees, no return freight charges.
Why is this cheaper than the dealer?
It is the same Ram-engineered OEM unit, recovered from a low-mileage donor vehicle rather than built new. You skip the new-part markup and still get VIN-matching, shift testing and up to a 3-year warranty.
When can I reach your team?
24 hours a day, Monday through Saturday, at 1-877-313-8995 — or text your VIN any time and we will reply with options.

Our 6-Step Inspection & Shipping Process

Every 2016 Ram transmission we ship has been through these six steps:

1. VIN-Matching
We match the donor VIN to your VIN to confirm the body style, displacement, gearbox manufacturer, gear count and drivetrain — the five things that decide a 2016 Ram fit.
2. Tested & Verified
ASE-certified technicians shift-test the unit through every gear and verify clean engagement under load.
3. Shift & Road Verification
Units are run to confirm smooth up- and down-shifts, correct torque-converter lockup and no slip — catches wear static tests miss.
4. Visual Inspection
Every accessible component is inspected: bellhousing, valve body, pan and seals, tailshaft, PTO housing where fitted, and sensor harnesses.
5. Photograph & Catalog
Multi-angle photos sent to you BEFORE we ship, for your approval.
6. Palletize & Ship
Strapped on a heavy-duty wooden pallet, shipped via freight at no charge.
