Why Buy a 2011 Ford Engine from Auto Power Source
2011 is the year Ford replaced an entire engine lineup at once. The F-150 dropped the 4.2L V6 and both Triton V8s and returned with four new engines — the 3.7L Ti-VCT V6, the 5.0L Coyote V8, the 6.2L Boss V8 and the 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6. The Super Duty moved to the 6.7L Power Stroke, the first diesel Ford designed and built in-house, with the 6.2L Boss as its gas option. The Mustang swapped the 4.0L V6 for the 3.7L and the 4.6L 3V for the Coyote, and the new unibody Explorer dropped to one 3.5L Duratec V6.
The carry-over side is just as split. The E-Series vans kept the 4.6L and 5.4L Triton V8s with the 6.8L V10 on the E-350, each listed separately for gasoline, E85, CNG and LPG because the CNG and LPG-prep units carry different valves and seats. The Fiesta arrived with the 1.6L Duratec Ti-VCT, the Transit Connect came as a 2.0L van or an electric, and the Crown Victoria ran out its last year on the 4.6L flex-fuel V8. That is why the 8th VIN digit, not the displacement, identifies a 2011 Ford engine.
Every 2011 Ford engine we sell is used OEM from a low-mileage donor vehicle, cataloged by VIN. Each unit goes through our six-step inspection — VIN-matching, compression and leak-down testing, noise and smoke checks, visual inspection, photography for your approval, and palletized freight. You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing, ship free in the continental U.S., and have 30 days to return for any reason.

2011 Ford Engine Buying Guide
5 things to verify before buying a used 2011 Ford engine:
-
Match the 8th VIN digit, not the displacement. Every listing here is identified by that digit. The 3.5L V6 is VIN C, W or 8 naturally aspirated and VIN T for the EcoBoost; the 5.4L is VIN L as a Triton and VIN S supercharged.
-
Treat the F-150 as a changeover year. A 2011 F-150 can carry the 3.7L Ti-VCT (VIN M), the 5.0L Coyote (VIN F), the 6.2L Boss (VIN 6) or the 3.5L EcoBoost (VIN T) — nothing from 2010 carries over.
-
On the Super Duty, pick the fuel and the body. The 6.7L Power Stroke is listed for Pickup and, on the F-350, Chassis Cab — not interchangeable. The gas option is the 6.2L Boss; the V10 stayed only in the E-350 van.
-
On the vans and the 3.5L cars, fuel and build date split the part. E-Series 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L units are listed separately as gasoline, E85, CNG and LPG. The Flex and Taurus 3.5L split thru 11/28/10 and from 11/29/10.
-
Confirm the match with your own VIN before you order. Your VIN settles the engine code, fuel system, body style and build-date split in one step. Text it to +1-307-441-5554 and we will confirm which unit fits.
Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any unit ships.
