Why Buy a 2011 Chevy Engine from Auto Power Source

Every 2011 Chevy engine listed here is used OEM pulled from a low-mileage donor vehicle, catalogued against its GM RPO option code, and held in our warehouse until it sells. 2011 is a year where displacement alone tells you almost nothing: a 6.0L could be an L96 gasoline truck V8, an LC8 bi-fuel cutaway unit, an LZ1 two-mode hybrid, or the Holden-built L77 in the Caprice PPV. Our ASE-certified technicians evaluate every unit against its RPO before any sale is approved.

Each unit goes through the same six steps: VIN-matching, ASE testing, noise and smoke verification, full visual inspection, multi-angle photography, and palletized shipping. We have shipped over 46,000 engines and transmissions with a 0% fitment-related return rate, and we match the RPO code, not just the litre figure, so a Silverado 1500 LMG does not arrive where an LC9 belongs.

You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for identical OEM GM engineering, ship free on a heavy-duty pallet anywhere in the continental U.S., and have 30 days from delivery to return for any reason with no restocking fees. A warranty covers you after install.

Your 2011 Chevy Engine Options: Compared

Most 2011 Chevy owners face four real choices when the engine fails:

← Swipe sideways to see all columns →
Option Cost Reliability Warranty Fitment Match
Used OEM (this collection) $$$ Best Value High — tested Included VIN-matched
New OEM (dealer) $$$$$ 2-4× more High Manufacturer Exact
Aftermarket / Reman $$$$ Varies 6-12 mo May adapt
Junkyard $ Cheapest Unknown None DIY

Tested used OEM hits the sweet spot — same engineering as new, fraction of the cost.

2011 Chevy Engine Buying Guide

5 things to verify before buying a used 2011 Chevy engine:

  1. Start from the RPO code, not the displacement. On a 2011 Chevy the RPO option code is the part number that matters. Four separate 6.0L V8s and four separate 6.2L V8s shipped that year, and they share almost nothing beyond bore spacing. The code is on the Service Parts Identification label in the glovebox.
  2. Separate the gasoline, CNG and LPG units. The 6.0L L96 is gasoline; the 6.0L LC8 is the bi-fuel engine, and its LPG cutaway variants split again between the 3-tank UFM and 4-tank UFP systems. The 5.3L LFT is the bi-fuel Silverado 1500 unit. Fuel system, injectors and harness all differ.
  3. Check the emissions and PZEV split on the four-cylinders. The Malibu 2.4L LE5 is listed both with and without option NU6 (PZEV). The emissions package changes the cam cover, calibration and exhaust hardware, so an NU6 unit and a non-NU6 unit are not interchangeable.
  4. Confirm hybrid versus conventional before you order. The 6.0L LZ1 in the Silverado 1500 Hybrid and Tahoe Hybrid (VIN J) is a two-mode hybrid engine and will not drop into a conventional truck. Same displacement, entirely different accessory drive and control hardware.
  5. Confirm the match with your own VIN before you order. Your VIN settles the engine code, drivetrain and build split in one step. Text it to +1-307-441-5554 and we will confirm in writing exactly which unit fits your vehicle before you pay.

Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any unit ships.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I tell which 2011 Chevy 6.0L V8 I have?
By RPO code. L96 is the gasoline truck and van V8, LC8 is the CNG and LPG bi-fuel unit, LZ1 is the two-mode hybrid engine in the Silverado 1500 Hybrid and Tahoe Hybrid, and L77 is the Holden-built V8 in the Caprice PPV. Read the code off the glovebox Service Parts Identification label, or text us your VIN.
Are the 2011 Corvette 6.2L engines interchangeable?
No. The LS3 came in manual, automatic and dry-sump Z52 forms, and the ZR1's LS9 is supercharged with a different block, heads, pistons and oiling. The Z06 runs the 7.0L LS7 instead. We list each separately.
What is the warranty?
Every 2011 Chevy engine we ship carries a warranty; the term depends on the unit. We confirm it in writing with your quote before you pay.
What does ASE-tested mean?
ASE-certified technicians compression-test every cylinder and run a leak-down evaluation, plus noise and smoke verification, visual inspection, and multi-angle photography before shipment.
How long until delivery?
Prep and ship time is 3-5 business days. Transit is 2-3 business days after dispatch via freight carrier.
Does the Malibu 2.4L PZEV option matter?
Yes. The LE5 is listed with and without option NU6 (PZEV). The PZEV emissions package changes hardware and calibration, so the two are not a straight swap. Your VIN tells us which one your car left the factory with.
Can I see photos before I buy?
Yes. We send multi-angle photographs of the actual unit before you pay. If you do not approve them, you owe nothing.
Why is this cheaper than a dealer-new engine?
It is used OEM from a low-mileage donor vehicle — the same GM engineering, at a fraction of new-part pricing, on free freight.
