Suzuki Engines We Cover

Real Suzuki engines from our warehouse, tested and ready to ship. A single model year can ship with more than one engine, so match by engine code rather than by vehicle — text us your VIN and we will confirm it.

Used Suzuki Grand Vitara and XL-7 2.7L H27A V6 (VIN 9) engine
Grand Vitara and XL-7 2.7L H27A V6 (VIN 9)
Grand Vitara (2001–2008), XL-7 (2001–2006), Vitara (2001–2005). Our deepest Suzuki line — the 2.7L DOHC V6, listed by VIN 9 (6th digit) and by Grand or XL-7 because the 2006 body split moved the mounts and accessory drive.
Used Suzuki Vitara, Grand Vitara and XL-7 2.5L H25A V6 (VIN 6) engine
Vitara, Grand Vitara and XL-7 2.5L H25A V6 (VIN 6)
Grand Vitara and XL-7 (1999–2005), Vitara (1999–2005). The 2.5L DOHC V6 of the first-generation trucks — listed by VIN 6 (6th digit), and on the 2004 cars by VIN 5 or VIN 6 because Suzuki ran two 2.5 builds that year with different controllers.
Used Suzuki XL7 3.6L V6 (VIN 7, GM High Feature) engine
XL7 3.6L V6 (VIN 7, GM High Feature)
XL7 (2007–2009). The GM-built 3.6L DOHC V6 of the Theta-platform XL7 — listed by VIN 7 (8th digit) because it shares nothing with the Suzuki-built 2.7 of the same badge, and by XL-7 where the 2007 body split applies.
Used Suzuki Grand Vitara and Kizashi 2.4L J24B (VIN A / 0 / 9) engine
Grand Vitara and Kizashi 2.4L J24B (VIN A / 0 / 9)
Grand Vitara and XL7 2.4 (2009–2013), Kizashi (2010–2013). The 2.4L DOHC four of the late trucks and the Kizashi — listed by VIN A or VIN 0 (6th digit) on the Grand Vitara and VIN 9 on the Kizashi, because the two truck builds carry different controllers and the Kizashi unit its own mounts.
Used Suzuki Grand Vitara 3.2L N32A V6 (VIN B / 1) engine
Grand Vitara 3.2L N32A V6 (VIN B / 1)
Grand Vitara (2009–2010). The 3.2L DOHC V6 of the top-trim Grand Vitara — listed by VIN B or VIN 1 (6th digit) because Suzuki ran two builds with different emissions calibration, neither of which swaps for the 2.4.
Used Suzuki SX4, Aerio and Esteem 2.0L / 2.3L / 1.8L J-Series (VIN 4 / 5 / 6) engine
SX4, Aerio and Esteem 2.0L / 2.3L / 1.8L J-Series (VIN 4 / 5 / 6)
SX4 and SX4 Crossover (2007–2013), Aerio (2002–2007), Esteem 1.8 (1999–2002). The J-series aluminum four — listed by VIN 4 or VIN 5 on the 2.0 (the 2010-on J20B is a different engine from the 2007–2009 J20A), by VIN 6 on the Aerio 2.3, and by VIN 4 on the Esteem 1.8.
Used Suzuki Forenza, Reno and Verona 2.0L / 2.5L (Daewoo, VIN Z / L) engine
Forenza, Reno and Verona 2.0L / 2.5L (Daewoo, VIN Z / L)
Forenza (2004–2008), Reno (2005–2008), Verona (2004–2006). The Daewoo-built engines of the rebadged sedans — the 2.0L four listed by VIN Z (8th digit) and by AT or MT because the automatic and manual units carry different flywheels and sensors, and the Verona 2.5L inline-six by VIN L.
Used Suzuki Sidekick, X-90 and Vitara 1.6L G16 and 1.8L (1990–2003) engine
Sidekick, X-90 and Vitara 1.6L G16 and 1.8L (1990–2003)
Sidekick (1990–1998), X-90 (1996–1998), Vitara and XL-7 1.6 (1999–2003). The G16 four — listed by 8 valve TBI or 16 valve MFI, by SOHC or DOHC, by 2 Dr or 4 Dr, and by VIN 0 (6th digit) on the Vitara, because the throttle-body and multi-port builds carry different heads and intake.
Used Suzuki Swift and Esteem 1.3L and 1.6L (VIN 2 / 3 / 6) engine
Swift and Esteem 1.3L and 1.6L (VIN 2 / 3 / 6)
Swift (1990–2011), Esteem 1.6 (1995–2001). The small fours — the 1.3L listed by VIN 3 (SOHC, 1990–1994) or VIN 2 (1995–2001), the Esteem 1.6 by VIN 3, and the 2004–2005 Swift 1.6 by VIN 6 (8th digit) and by AT or MT because the automatic unit carries a different flywheel and controller.

Why Buy a Used Suzuki Engine from Auto Power Source

Suzuki sold engines from three different makers under one badge — its own G-series and J-series fours and H-series V6s in the Sidekick, Vitara, Aerio and Kizashi; GM engines in the 2007–2009 XL7; Daewoo engines in the Forenza, Reno and Verona; and Nissan engines in the Equator — and changed the VIN code on the same displacement more than once. A 2.0L Suzuki is a J20A (VIN 4), a J20B (VIN 5) or a Daewoo four (VIN Z); a 2.5L is an H25A V6 (VIN 6) or a Verona inline-six (VIN L); a 2.4L Grand Vitara is VIN A or VIN 0. Every product on this page is titled by VIN engine code and the digit it sits in, by SOHC or DOHC, by TBI or MFI, by AT or MT, and by body or trim where Suzuki split the engine. Our 179 verified Suzuki engines cover the whole run: the H27A and H25A V6s, the GM 3.6, the J24B and N32A, the J-series fours in the SX4, Aerio and Esteem, the Daewoo Forenza and Reno fours, the G16 Sidekick and Vitara engines, and the Swift and Esteem small fours.

Every Suzuki engine we sell has been pulled from a low-mileage donor vehicle, cataloged by VIN, and held in our climate-controlled warehouse pending sale. Each unit goes through our six-step inspection — VIN-matching against the donor and against your vehicle, compression and leak-down testing of every cylinder, noise verification, full visual inspection of block, head and timing cover, multi-angle photography for your approval, and palletized freight. H-series V6s get a timing-chain and tensioner check, J-series fours get a variable-valve-timing and chain check, and the Daewoo fours get a timing-belt and tensioner inspection. Rejected units never reach the buyer.

You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for the same Suzuki engineering, ship free on a heavy-duty pallet anywhere in the continental U.S., and have 30 days from delivery to return for any reason — no restocking fees. The warranty printed on the listing — with extended coverage up to 3 years available — covers you if anything goes wrong after install. Across 100K+ engines and transmissions in stock, we hold a 0% fitment-related return rate.

Your Suzuki Engine Options: Compared

Most Suzuki owners face four real choices when the engine fails:

← Swipe sideways to see all columns →
Option Cost Reliability Warranty Fitment Match
Used OEM (this collection) $$$ Best Value High — tested Included VIN-matched
New OEM (dealer) $$$$$ 2-4× more High Manufacturer Exact
Aftermarket / Reman $$$$ Varies 6-12 mo May adapt
Junkyard $ Cheapest Unknown None DIY

Tested used OEM hits the sweet spot — same engineering as new, fraction of the cost.

Suzuki Engine Buying Guide

5 things to verify before buying a used Suzuki engine:

  1. Read the VIN engine code in the digit the listing names — Suzuki moved it around. Most Suzuki engines are coded in the 6th VIN digit (VIN 9 for the 2.7 V6, VIN 6 for the 2.5 V6, VIN 4 or 5 for the 2.0 four), the Daewoo-built Forenza, Reno and Verona and the GM-built XL7 3.6 in the 8th (VIN Z, VIN L, VIN 7), and the Nissan-built Equator in the 4th. Every listing says which digit — read that one, not the displacement.
  2. The same displacement is not the same engine. A 2.0L is a Suzuki J20A, a Suzuki J20B or a Daewoo four; a 2.5L is a V6 or a Verona inline-six; a 2.4L Grand Vitara is VIN A or VIN 0 with a different controller. None of these interchange — match the VIN code before anything else.
  3. AT and MT units are listed separately on the Forenza, Reno and Swift. The Daewoo-built 2.0 and the 2004–2005 Swift 1.6 are listed by AT or MT because the automatic and manual units carry different flywheels, sensors and controllers. Match the listing to your transmission.
  4. Watch the valve count, cam layout and body split on the older trucks. The Sidekick 1.6 is listed as 8 valve TBI or 16 valve MFI, SOHC or DOHC, and 2 Dr or 4 Dr; the 2006 Vitara and XL-7 by Grand or XL-7; the 2004 Vitara 2.5 by VIN 5 or VIN 6. These carry different heads, intakes or mounts — compare the listing to your build before ordering.
  5. Confirm the match with your own VIN before you order. Your VIN settles the engine code, drivetrain and build split in one step. Text it to +1-307-441-5554 and we will confirm in writing exactly which unit fits your vehicle before you pay.

Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any unit ships.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the warranty on a used Suzuki engine?
Every Suzuki engine ships with a warranty included — the standard term follows the model year (1 month for 1990, 3 months for 1991–2000, 6 months for 2001 and newer) and is printed on each product page. Extended coverage of up to 3 years is available at checkout.
What does ASE-tested mean?
ASE-certified technicians compression-test every cylinder and run leak-down evaluation on engines; transmissions are Shift-Tested through all gears under load. Plus noise & smoke verification, visual inspection, and multi-angle photography before shipment.
How long until delivery?
Prep and ship time is 3-5 business days. Transit time is 2-3 business days after dispatch via freight carrier — typically 5-8 business days from order to delivery.
Can I see photos before I buy?
Yes. Multi-angle photos of the actual unit are sent before payment. If you do not approve the photos, you get every dollar back — no restocking fees, no return freight charges.
Do I need my VIN?
Yes — essential on Suzuki. The engine code sits in the 6th VIN digit on most models, the 8th on the Forenza, Reno, Verona and 3.6L XL7, and the 4th on the Equator, and it separates a Suzuki-built 2.0 from a Daewoo-built 2.0, a 2.5 V6 from a 2.5 inline-six, and a VIN A 2.4 from a VIN 0 2.4. Text your VIN to +1-307-441-5554 and we will confirm the exact engine, including valid Chevrolet Tracker, Nissan Frontier and Daewoo donors.
Will a Chevrolet, Nissan or Daewoo engine fit my Suzuki?
Often — the Chevrolet Tracker shares the Vitara and Grand Vitara engines (1999–2004), the Nissan Frontier shares the Equator QR25DE and VQ40DE, the Daewoo Lacetti and Nubira share the Forenza and Reno 2.0, and the Saturn Vue and Chevrolet Equinox share the 2007–2009 XL7 3.6, when the year and VIN code match. The Sidekick, Swift, Aerio, SX4 and Kizashi engines are Suzuki-only. Text your VIN and we will confirm which donors are valid.
Why cheaper than dealer new?
Used OEM from low-mileage donor vehicles. Same Suzuki engineering as factory new at a fraction of the cost — dealers are typically 2-4x our pricing, and many older units are no longer available new at all.

Our 6-Step Inspection & Shipping Process

Every Suzuki engine we ship has been through these six steps:

1. VIN-Matching
We match the donor VIN to your VIN to confirm the engine code and the digit it sits in, the maker (Suzuki, GM, Daewoo or Nissan), valve count and cam layout, AT or MT, and any body or trim split.
2. Tested & Verified
ASE-certified technicians compression-test every cylinder and run leak-down evaluation. H-series V6s get a timing-chain and tensioner check; J-series fours get a variable-valve-timing and chain check; Daewoo fours get a timing-belt and tensioner inspection.
3. Noise & Smoke Verification
Units are run to verify normal mechanical sound and clean operation — catches internal wear static tests miss.
4. Visual Inspection
Every accessible component is inspected: turbos, manifolds, valve covers, housings, accessories, sensor harnesses.
5. Photograph & Catalog
Multi-angle photos sent to you BEFORE we ship for your approval.
6. Palletize & Ship
Strapped on a heavy-duty wooden pallet, shipped via freight at no charge.

Our Photos-Before-Shipment Guarantee

Before any engine leaves our warehouse, we send you multi-angle photographs. You approve. If you do not approve, you get every dollar back — no questions, no restocking fees, no return freight charges. On top of 30-day money-back and the warranty included with every unit.
