Collection: Used Mazda Engines For Sale | Auto Power Source

Browse Mazda Engines by Year

Our Mazda engine inventory covers every model year from 1995 through 2024. Year-specific pages are not yet live for Mazda — text us your VIN and we will match the exact engine code for your vehicle within minutes.

Mazda Engines We Cover

Ten Mazda engine families, all in stock and ASE-tested. Mazda reuses displacements across very different engine codes, so check the code rather than the litre figure — text us your VIN and we will confirm it.

SkyActiv-G 2.0L I4

Mazda3, CX-3, CX-30, MX-5 ND. High-compression direct injection — intake-valve carbon is the expected wear item past 70K miles, and we borescope before listing.

SkyActiv-G 2.5L I4

Mazda6, CX-5, CX-9 base. The volume engine across the mid-size line — later years add cylinder deactivation, which changes the calibration.

SkyActiv-G 2.5T Turbo I4

CX-9, CX-5 Turbo, Mazda6 Turbo. The torque-rich modern turbo four — not interchangeable with the naturally aspirated 2.5L despite the shared displacement.

2.3L MZR DOHC

Mazda3, Mazda6, Tribute, RX-8 R3. The pre-SkyActiv workhorse — the MazdaSpeed turbo variant has different internals and is not a drop-in.

2.0L MZR

Mazda3, Mazda5, Tribute. The compact-volume four before SkyActiv — shares architecture with the Ford Duratec 20, but mounting differs.

1.6L Renesis Rotary

RX-8 (2003–2012). The twin-rotor Wankel — apex seal and compression condition are everything, so we run a rotor-face compression test, not a piston-engine test.

1.8L BP DOHC

MX-5 Miata NA and NB (1990–2005). The roadster four — short-nose versus long-nose crank is the critical split on early NA units.

2.0L MZR-CD Turbodiesel

Mazda6 diesel, rare in the US. Primarily European specification — EGR and DPF condition drive the cost on these.

3.0L Duratec V6

Tribute V6, Mazda6 V6. Shared with Ford from the Mazda-Ford era — brackets and intake differ between the two applications even where the block is common.

3.7L Cyclone V6

CX-9 (pre-2016). The big-displacement crossover engine, also Ford-shared — the last of the pre-SkyActiv CX-9 powertrains.

Plus 1.5L SkyActiv-G, 2.2L SkyActiv-D, 13B rotary variants and MazdaSpeed turbo units — send your VIN and we will confirm availability.

Why Buy a Used Mazda Engine from Auto Power Source

Mazda's engine line covers more ground than its size suggests — the SkyActiv-G family powering the modern Mazda3 and CX-5, the MZR fours that came before it, the Renesis rotary in the RX-8, the BP four in two generations of Miata, and Ford-shared V6s in the Tribute and pre-2016 CX-9. Our 1,032 verified Mazda engines span all of it. Every unit has been pulled from a low-mileage donor vehicle, cataloged by VIN, and held in our climate-controlled warehouse.

Each unit went through our six-step inspection — VIN-matching, ASE testing, noise and smoke verification, full visual inspection, multi-angle photography, and palletized shipping. Our ASE-certified technicians do the testing; rejected units never reach the buyer. Mazda reuses displacements across genuinely different engine codes, and pairs specific engines with specific transmissions across model years, so VIN-matching is not optional here — the same litre figure can mean a naturally aspirated unit, a turbo unit, or a MazdaSpeed unit with different internals entirely.

You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for identical Mazda engineering, ship free on a heavy-duty pallet anywhere in the continental U.S., and get 30 days from delivery to return for any reason — no restocking fees. The warranty printed on the listing — with extended coverage up to 3 years available — covers you if anything goes wrong after install. Across 100K+ engines and transmissions in stock, we hold a 0% fitment-related return rate.
