Jaguar Engines We Cover

Real Jaguar engines from our warehouse, tested and ready to ship. A single model year can ship with more than one engine, so match by engine code rather than by vehicle — text us your VIN and we will confirm it.

Used Jaguar AJ133 5.0L Supercharged V8 (VIN C / E / T / W / K / A, 8th digit) engine
AJ133 5.0L Supercharged V8 (VIN C / E / T / W / K / A, 8th digit)
XJ and XJR (2010–2019), XK and XKR (2010–2015), XF and XFR (2010–2015), F-Type R and SVR (2014–2019). Our deepest Jaguar line — the supercharged 5.0L, listed by VIN letter because the 470, 510, 550 and 575 hp builds are coded separately, by FFV or w/o, and on the 2019 F-Type by GEN1 or GEN2.
Used Jaguar AJ133 5.0L Naturally Aspirated V8 (VIN B, 8th digit) engine
AJ133 5.0L Naturally Aspirated V8 (VIN B, 8th digit)
XJ and XJ8 (2010–2013), XK (2010–2015), XF and XFR (2010–2012). The naturally aspirated 5.0L of the base cars, listed w/o supercharged and by VIN B (8th digit). It shares its block with the supercharged engine but not its intake, pistons, or controller — the two do not interchange.
Used Jaguar AJ126 3.0L Supercharged V6 (VIN 7 / D / F / Z / X / V, 8th digit) engine
AJ126 3.0L Supercharged V6 (VIN 7 / D / F / Z / X / V, 8th digit)
XJ and XF (2013–2019), F-Type (2014–2020), F-Pace (2017–2020), XF Sportbrake (2018–2019). The supercharged V6 that replaced the base V8 — listed by VIN letter, by RWD or AWD, and by FFV or w/o, because the all-wheel-drive unit carries a different sump and front cover.
Used Jaguar AJ-V8 4.2L (VIN B / C / U / V, 8th digit) engine
AJ-V8 4.2L (VIN B / C / U / V, 8th digit)
XJ8, XJR, Vanden Plas and Super V8 (2004–2009), XK8 and XKR (2003–2009), S-Type 4.2 and S-Type R (2003–2008). The second-generation AJ-V8 — listed by supercharged option or w/o, by VIN B or C on the XJ and XK, VIN U or V on the S-Type, and by California emissions where Jaguar split the build.
Used Jaguar AJ-V8 4.0L (VIN B / C / D / P, 8th digit; VIN 0 / 8, 7th digit) engine
AJ-V8 4.0L (VIN B / C / D / P, 8th digit; VIN 0 / 8, 7th digit)
XJ8, XJR and Vanden Plas (1998–2003), XK8 and XKR (1997–2002), S-Type 4.0 (2000–2002). The first AJ-V8 — listed by supercharged option or w/o, by VIN letter and its digit (7th through 1999, 8th from 2000), and on the 2001 cars by thru or from engine ID 0108122359 / 0108130000, the Nikasil-to-steel liner break.
Used Jaguar AJ6 and AJ16 4.0L Inline-6 (VIN 2 / 7 / 9 / 1, 7th digit) engine
AJ6 and AJ16 4.0L Inline-6 (VIN 2 / 7 / 9 / 1, 7th digit)
XJ6 and Vanden Plas (1990–1997), XJS 4.0 (1992–1996), XJR 4.0 supercharged (1995–1997). The straight-six of the XJ40 and X300 cars — listed by VIN 2, 7 or 9 (7th digit) because Jaguar changed the injection and emissions calibration across the run, and by VIN 1 on the supercharged XJR.
Used Jaguar 2.0L Ingenium Four (VIN X gasoline / VIN N diesel, 8th digit) engine
2.0L Ingenium Four (VIN X gasoline / VIN N diesel, 8th digit)
XE and XF (2017–2020), F-Pace (2018–2020), E-Pace (2018–2020), XF Sportbrake (2019). The current turbocharged four — listed by VIN X (gasoline) or VIN N (diesel) in the 8th digit, by VIN F or G in the 7th because the 247 hp and 296 hp builds carry different turbos and pistons, and by RWD or AWD.
Used Jaguar AJ-V6 3.0L and 2.5L (VIN A / T / C, 8th digit) engine
AJ-V6 3.0L and 2.5L (VIN A / T / C, 8th digit)
S-Type 3.0 (2000–2008), X-Type 3.0 and 2.5 (2002–2008). The Ford-derived Duratec-based V6 of the entry cars — listed by VIN A, T or C (8th digit) because Jaguar re-coded the engine at the 2005 controller change, and by displacement on the X-Type where the 2.5 and 3.0 share a block but not pistons or heads.
Used Jaguar XF 2.0L Turbo Four (VIN S, 8th digit) engine
XF 2.0L Turbo Four (VIN S, 8th digit)
XF and XFR-S (2013–2015). The Ford EcoBoost-based 2.0L turbo of the first four-cylinder XF — listed by VIN S (8th digit). It is a different engine from the 2017-on Ingenium 2.0 and does not interchange with it; the year on the listing settles which one you need.

Why Buy a Used Jaguar Engine from Auto Power Source

Jaguar has changed the engine behind the same badge again and again — an XJ8 is a 4.0L AJ-V8 through 2003, a 4.2L from 2004, a 5.0L from 2010 and a 3.0L supercharged V6 from 2013; an XF 2.0L is a Ford-based turbo through 2015 and an Ingenium from 2017; a 4.0L XJ6 is a straight-six while a 4.0L XJ8 is a V8; and a 5.0L is naturally aspirated (VIN B) or one of five supercharged builds from 470 to 575 hp. Every product on this page is titled by displacement, by VIN letter and the digit it sits in (7th through 1999, 8th from 2000), by supercharged or w/o, by RWD or AWD, by FFV or w/o, and by the engine-ID and emissions splits Jaguar made mid-year. Our 698 verified Jaguar engines cover the whole run: the supercharged and naturally aspirated AJ133 5.0L V8s, the AJ126 3.0L supercharged V6, the 4.2L and 4.0L AJ-V8s, the AJ6 and AJ16 straight-sixes, the 2.0L Ingenium and Ford-based turbo fours, the S-Type and X-Type V6s, and the V12s.

Every Jaguar engine we sell has been pulled from a low-mileage donor vehicle, cataloged by VIN, and held in our climate-controlled warehouse pending sale. Each unit goes through our six-step inspection — VIN-matching against the donor and against your vehicle, compression and leak-down testing of every cylinder, noise verification, full visual inspection of block, heads and timing cover, multi-angle photography for your approval, and palletized freight. Supercharged V8s and V6s get a supercharger, intercooler and timing-chain check, AJ-V8s a tensioner and liner inspection, Ingenium fours a turbo and chain check, and straight-sixes a head-gasket and timing inspection. Rejected units never reach the buyer.

You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for the same Jaguar engineering, ship free on a heavy-duty pallet anywhere in the continental U.S., and have 30 days from delivery to return for any reason — no restocking fees. The warranty printed on the listing — with extended coverage up to 3 years available — covers you if anything goes wrong after install. Across 100K+ engines and transmissions in stock, we hold a 0% fitment-related return rate.

Your Jaguar Engine Options: Compared

Most Jaguar owners face four real choices when the engine fails:

← Swipe sideways to see all columns →
Option Cost Reliability Warranty Fitment Match
Used OEM (this collection) $$$ Best Value High — tested Included VIN-matched
New OEM (dealer) $$$$$ 2-4× more High Manufacturer Exact
Aftermarket / Reman $$$$ Varies 6-12 mo May adapt
Junkyard $ Cheapest Unknown None DIY

Tested used OEM hits the sweet spot — same engineering as new, fraction of the cost.

Jaguar Engine Buying Guide

5 things to verify before buying a used Jaguar engine:

  1. Read the VIN letter in the digit the listing names — Jaguar moved it in 2000. Through 1999 the engine sits in the 7th VIN digit (VIN 2, 7 or 9 for the straight-six, VIN 1 or 8 for the supercharged XJR, VIN 3 for the V12); from 2000 it sits in the 8th (VIN B or C for the 4.0 and 4.2, VIN U or V on the S-Type, VIN B for the naturally aspirated 5.0, VIN C, E, T, W, K or A for the supercharged 5.0). Every listing says which digit — read that one.
  2. Supercharged and naturally aspirated are different engines. The supercharged AJ-V8 and AJ133 carry different pistons, intake, fuel system and controller from the naturally aspirated unit of the same displacement. Every listing says supercharged, supercharged option or w/o — match it to your car before anything else.
  3. The same displacement is not the same engine. A 4.0L is an AJ16 straight-six (XJ6, XJS) or an AJ-V8 (XJ8, XK8); a 2.0L is the Ford-based turbo (2013–2015 XF, VIN S) or the Ingenium (2017-on, VIN X); a 3.0L is the S-Type and X-Type V6 (VIN A, T, C) or the supercharged AJ126 (VIN 7, D, F, Z, X, V). The year, model and VIN letter on the listing settle it.
  4. Watch the engine-ID, emissions, RWD/AWD and FFV splits. The 2001 4.0L AJ-V8 is listed thru or from engine ID 0108122359 / 0108130000 (the liner change), the 2004–2005 4.2L by California emissions or w/o, the 3.0L V6 and 5.0L V8 by RWD or AWD and by FFV or w/o, and the 2019 F-Type by GEN1 or GEN2. Each marks a change in liners, sump, front cover or fuel system — compare the listing to your car before ordering.
  5. Always run the donor vehicle VIN. On Jaguar it settles the engine family, the VIN letter and its digit, supercharged or naturally aspirated, RWD or AWD, FFV, and the engine-ID or emissions split in one step, and lets you verify mileage and service history before you commit. We provide it on request for any engine in inventory.

Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any unit ships.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the warranty on a used Jaguar engine?
Every Jaguar engine ships with a warranty included — the standard term follows the model year (1 month for 1990, 3 months for 1991–2000, 6 months for 2001 and newer) and is printed on each product page. Extended coverage of up to 3 years is available at checkout.
What does ASE-tested mean?
ASE-certified technicians compression-test every cylinder and run leak-down evaluation on engines; transmissions are Shift-Tested through all gears under load. Plus noise & smoke verification, visual inspection, and multi-angle photography before shipment.
How long until delivery?
Prep and ship time is 3-5 business days. Transit time is 2-3 business days after dispatch via freight carrier — typically 5-8 business days from order to delivery.
Can I see photos before I buy?
Yes. Multi-angle photos of the actual unit are sent before payment. If you do not approve the photos, you get every dollar back — no restocking fees, no return freight charges.
Do I need my VIN?
Yes — essential on Jaguar. The engine letter sits in the 7th VIN digit through 1999 and the 8th from 2000, and it separates a straight-six 4.0 from a V8 4.0, a supercharged 5.0 from a naturally aspirated one, and a Ford-based 2.0 turbo from an Ingenium 2.0. Text your VIN to +1-307-441-5554 and we will confirm the exact engine, including valid Land Rover and Ford donors.
Will a Land Rover or Ford engine fit my Jaguar?
Often — Jaguar and Land Rover have shared engines since 2005. The AJ133 5.0L V8 and AJ126 3.0L supercharged V6 are the same units as the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, LR4 and Discovery of the same years, the 2.0L Ingenium is shared with the Evoque, Velar and Discovery Sport, and the 2005–2009 Range Rover and LR3 4.4L is a Jaguar AJ-V8. The S-Type and X-Type V6s and the 2013–2015 XF 2.0 turbo share Ford blocks but not Jaguar heads, intake or controllers. Text your VIN and we will confirm which donors are valid.
Why cheaper than dealer new?
Used OEM from low-mileage donor vehicles. Same Jaguar engineering as factory new at a fraction of the cost — dealers are typically 2-4x our pricing, and many older units are no longer available new at all.

Our 6-Step Inspection & Shipping Process

Every Jaguar engine we ship has been through these six steps:

1. VIN-Matching
We match the donor VIN to your VIN to confirm the engine family, the VIN letter and the digit it sits in, supercharged or naturally aspirated, RWD or AWD, FFV or w/o, and any engine-ID or emissions split.
2. Tested & Verified
ASE-certified technicians compression-test every cylinder and run leak-down evaluation. Supercharged V8s and V6s get a supercharger, intercooler and timing-chain check; AJ-V8s get a tensioner and liner inspection; Ingenium fours get a turbo and chain check; straight-sixes get a head-gasket and timing inspection.
3. Noise & Smoke Verification
Units are run to verify normal mechanical sound and clean operation — catches internal wear static tests miss.
4. Visual Inspection
Every accessible component is inspected: turbos, manifolds, valve covers, housings, accessories, sensor harnesses.
5. Photograph & Catalog
Multi-angle photos sent to you BEFORE we ship for your approval.
6. Palletize & Ship
Strapped on a heavy-duty wooden pallet, shipped via freight at no charge.

Our Photos-Before-Shipment Guarantee
