Fiat Engines We Cover

Real Fiat engines from our warehouse, tested and ready to ship. A single model year can ship with more than one engine, so match by the fitment words and codes rather than by the model name — text us your VIN and we will confirm it.

Why Buy a Used Fiat Engine from Auto Power Source

Fiat sold four engine families in the US under the 500 name — the naturally aspirated 1.4L MultiAir of the 500, the 1.4L MultiAir Turbo of the 500 Turbo, Abarth, 500L and 500X, the 2.4L Tigershark of the 500X automatic, and the electric drive of the 500e. Hollander files many Fiat lines under all three names (500, 500L, 500X), so every product on this page is matched by its fitment words: 2 Dr is the 500, L Model or 4 Dr the 500L, X Model the 500X. Every product is titled by displacement, VIN 8th digit, engine ID, body and gearbox where the line names them. Our 53 verified Fiat engines cover the whole run from 2012 to 2017.

Every Fiat engine we sell has been pulled from a low-mileage donor vehicle, cataloged by VIN, and held in our climate-controlled warehouse pending sale. Each unit goes through our six-step inspection — VIN-matching against the donor and against your vehicle, compression and leak-down testing of every cylinder, noise verification, full visual inspection of block, head and timing cover, multi-angle photography for your approval, and palletized freight. 1.4L MultiAir Turbo units get a turbo-shaft and oil-feed inspection. Rejected units never reach the buyer.

You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for the same Fiat engineering, ship free on a heavy-duty pallet anywhere in the continental U.S., and have 30 days from delivery to return for any reason — no restocking fees. The warranty printed on the listing — with extended coverage up to 3 years available — covers you if anything goes wrong after install. Across 100K+ engines and transmissions in stock, we hold a 0% fitment-related return rate.

Your Fiat Engine Options: Compared

Most Fiat owners face four real choices when the engine fails:

← Swipe sideways to see all columns →
Option Cost Reliability Warranty Fitment Match
Used OEM (this collection) $$$ Best Value High — tested Included VIN-matched
New OEM (dealer) $$$$$ 2-4× more High Manufacturer Exact
Aftermarket / Reman $$$$ Varies 6-12 mo May adapt
Junkyard $ Cheapest Unknown None DIY

Tested used OEM hits the sweet spot — same engineering as new, fraction of the cost.

Fiat Engine Buying Guide

5 things to verify before buying a used Fiat engine:

  1. Match the car first — Hollander files the 500, 500L and 500X lines under all three names. The fitment words tell you the real car: 2 Dr is the 500, L Model or 4 Dr the 500L, X Model the 500X. A listing titled 500L that says 2 Dr is a 500 part. Match the fitment words, then the displacement.
  2. 1.4L MultiAir and 1.4L MultiAir Turbo are different engines. The 8th character of the VIN tells them apart: R is the naturally aspirated 1.4L of the 500 Pop, Easy, Sport and Lounge, H the turbo of the 500 Turbo, Abarth, 500L and 500X manual. Every listing names the VIN code — match it to yours, not to the badge.
  3. On the 500X, the engine follows the gearbox. In 2016–2017 the 500X ran the 1.4L MultiAir Turbo with the manual and the 2.4L Tigershark with the automatic, FWD or AWD. Every listing says 1.4L or 2.4L.
  4. On the 500L, check the automatic type. The engine lines are split the same way as the gearboxes — MT, dry-clutch automatic (opt DA1) or torque-converter automatic (opt DF4). The option code is on your build sheet, or we read it from your VIN.
  5. Confirm the match with your own VIN before you order. Your VIN settles the car, engine code and gearbox in one step. Text it to +1-307-441-5554 and we will confirm in writing exactly which unit fits your vehicle before you pay.

Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any unit ships.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the warranty on a used Fiat engine?
Every Fiat engine ships with a warranty included — the standard term follows the model year (1 month for 1990, 3 months for 1991–2000, 6 months for 2001 and newer) and is printed on each product page. Extended coverage of up to 3 years is available at checkout.
What does ASE-tested mean?
ASE-certified technicians compression-test every cylinder and run leak-down evaluation on engines; transmissions are Shift-Tested through all gears under load. Plus noise & smoke verification, visual inspection, and multi-angle photography before shipment.
How long until delivery?
Prep and ship time is 3-5 business days. Transit time is 2-3 business days after dispatch via freight carrier — typically 5-8 business days from order to delivery.
Can I see photos before I buy?
Yes. Multi-angle photos of the actual unit are sent before payment. If you do not approve the photos, you get every dollar back — no restocking fees, no return freight charges.
Do I need my VIN?
Yes — essential on Fiat. The 8th character of the VIN is the engine code (R for the 1.4L MultiAir, H for the 1.4L MultiAir Turbo, E for the 500e), and Hollander files the 500, 500L and 500X lines under all three names, so your VIN settles which car and which engine you have. Text your VIN to +1-307-441-5554 and we will confirm the exact engine.
Is a Fiat 500L engine the same as a Fiat 500 engine?
Not always. The 500L used the 1.4L MultiAir Turbo only, while the 500 came with the naturally aspirated 1.4L or, on the Turbo and Abarth, the 1.4L MultiAir Turbo. Even in the turbo family the listings are split by body and gearbox, so text your VIN and we will confirm which units are valid for your car.
Why cheaper than dealer new?
Used OEM from low-mileage donor vehicles. Same Fiat engineering as factory new at a fraction of the cost — dealers are typically 2-4x our pricing, and many units are no longer available new at all.
When can I reach customer service?

Our 6-Step Inspection & Shipping Process

Every Fiat engine we ship has been through these six steps:

1. VIN-Matching
We match the donor VIN to your VIN to confirm the car (500, 500L or 500X), the 1.4L, 1.4L Turbo, 2.4L or electric build, the gearbox it was paired with, and the body style.
2. Tested & Verified
ASE-certified technicians compression-test every cylinder and run leak-down evaluation. 1.4L MultiAir Turbo units get a turbo-shaft and oil-feed inspection.
3. Noise & Smoke Verification
Units are run to verify normal mechanical sound and clean operation — catches internal wear static tests miss.
4. Visual Inspection
Every accessible component is inspected: turbos, manifolds, valve covers, housings, accessories, sensor harnesses.
5. Photograph & Catalog
Multi-angle photos sent to you BEFORE we ship for your approval.
6. Palletize & Ship
Strapped on a heavy-duty wooden pallet, shipped via freight at no charge.

Our Photos-Before-Shipment Guarantee

Before any engine leaves our warehouse, we send you multi-angle photographs. You approve.
