2012 Used Nissan Transmissions For Sale

75 verified 2012 Nissan transmissions, each one VIN-matched before it ships. 2012 is a CVT-heavy year: four separate JATCO CVT families sit alongside the geared RE5R05A and RE7R01A automatics, and a CVT never substitutes for a conventional automatic. Text your VIN and we will tell you which unit is yours.

Why Buy a 2012 Nissan Transmission from Auto Power Source

Every 2012 Nissan transmission on this page is a real unit on a real shelf, counted live. We do not list what we cannot ship. The count in the hero is live at build time, and the families table adds up to exactly that number.

2012 is the year the Nissan range is easiest to get wrong. The Versa alone was sold four ways in one model year: an RE4F03B four-speed automatic, an RE0F08B CVT in the hatch, an RE0F11A CVT7 in the sedan, and two manuals. Buy on year and model alone and you have a one-in-four chance of the right part. We match on the VIN instead, every time.

Our ASE-certified technicians pressure-test every automatic and CVT on the bench before it leaves, check the case and bellhousing against your VIN's build data, and photograph the actual unit from multiple angles. You see the pictures and approve before anything ships.

Used OEM from low-mileage donor vehicles, warranty included on every unit, 30-day money-back, and free freight to commercial addresses in the lower 48. If the photographs are not what you expected, you do not approve and you pay nothing.

Your 2012 Nissan Transmission Options: Compared

Most 2012 Nissan owners face four real choices when the transmission fails:

← Swipe sideways to see all columns →
Option Cost Reliability Warranty Fitment Match
Used OEM (this collection) $$$ Best Value High — tested Included VIN-matched
New OEM (dealer) $$$$$ 2-4× more High Manufacturer Exact
Rebuilt / Reman $$$$ Varies 6-12 mo May adapt
Junkyard $ Cheapest Unknown None DIY

Tested used OEM hits the sweet spot — same engineering as new, fraction of the cost.

2012 Nissan Transmission Buying Guide

5 things to verify before buying a used 2012 Nissan transmission:

  1. CVT or conventional automatic, first. This is the single most expensive mistake on a 2012 Nissan. A JATCO CVT and a geared RE5R05A or RE7R01A automatic are never interchangeable, even in the same model year behind the same engine. The bellhousing, the valve body, the control software and the mounts are all different. Know which one your car has before you shop a price.
  2. Then which CVT. 2012 ran four CVT families at once. The CVT7 RE0F11A in the Versa sedan and Juke carries an auxiliary gearbox the others do not. The JF011E/RE0F10A sits in the Altima 2.5L, Rogue and Sentra. The M-CVT RE0F09B is V6-only, in the Altima 3.5L, Murano, Maxima and Quest. The RE0F08B is the small case in the Versa hatch and Cube. None of the four swaps for another.
  3. Drive type, cab and tow package. On the truck and SUV side the 4x2 and 4x4 RE5R05A units are different part numbers, the Titan and Armada split on Big Tow, the Frontier splits on cab and off-road package, and the Pathfinder splits on whether the transfer-case switch has an AUTO position. The Rogue tow package adds four water-cooled transmission lines.
  4. Build date and emissions. The NV2500 and NV3500 5.6L VK56DE units start from the 7/12 build change and use the RE7R01A, while the 4.0L vans stay on the RE5R05A. The Altima 2.5L CVT splits Federal from California emissions. A unit from the wrong side of either split will physically mount and still throw codes.
  5. Confirm the match with your own VIN before you order. Text or call us with the 17-character VIN off your car and we will confirm the exact unit against your build data before you pay for anything. It takes a few minutes and it is the only way to be certain on a 2012 Nissan.

Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any unit ships.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I put a conventional automatic in a 2012 Nissan that came with a CVT?
No. A JATCO CVT and a geared automatic such as the RE5R05A or RE7R01A are different units in every way that matters: case, bellhousing, bolt pattern, valve body, cooling circuit and control software. Same model year and same engine does not make them interchangeable. The only correct replacement for a CVT car is the right CVT for that exact build, and we confirm which one against your VIN.
Which CVT is in my 2012 Nissan?
It depends on the car, not just the year. Versa sedan N17 and Juke F15 run the CVT7 RE0F11A. Altima 2.5L, Rogue S35 and Sentra B16 run the JF011E, also catalogued as RE0F10A. Altima 3.5L, Murano Z51, Maxima A35 and Quest E52 run the V6 M-CVT RE0F09B. Versa hatch C11 and Cube Z12 run the small RE0F08B. Text us the VIN and we will name the exact unit.
Do you have 2012 Nissan manual transmissions?
Yes. We hold both 5-speed and 6-speed manuals for 2012. The 6-speed covers the Versa hatch, Sentra, Juke, Cube, Altima, the V6 Frontier and Xterra, and the 370Z; the 5-speed covers the Versa sedan RS5F91R and the 2.5L four-cylinder Frontier.
What is different about the 2012 Versa?
The Versa was sold four ways in one model year, which is unusual even for Nissan. The C11 hatch carried either an RE4F03B four-speed automatic or an RE0F08B CVT, the N17 sedan carried the RE0F11A CVT7 or an RS5F91R five-speed manual, and a six-speed manual was also offered. Year and model are not enough information to order a Versa transmission.
Is the 2012 Pathfinder the same as the 2013?
No, and this is a common and costly mix-up. The 2012 Pathfinder is the body-on-frame R51 with the 4.0L V6 and a geared RE5R05A automatic. The 2013 R52 moved to a unibody with a CVT. Nothing carries over between them.
What warranty comes with a 2012 Nissan transmission?
Every unit ships with warranty coverage included in the price, and you have 30 days money-back from delivery. Coverage runs on the unit itself when it is installed by a licensed shop and the fluid and cooler service specified for it is carried out. Call 1-877-313-8995 for the exact terms on the unit you are looking at.
How fast can a 2012 Nissan transmission ship?
Units we hold in stock usually leave within one to three business days of your approval of the photographs. Freight to a commercial address in the lower 48 is free and typically runs three to six business days. Residential and lift-gate deliveries take longer; we say so up front.
What do you need from me to quote a 2012 Nissan transmission?
The 17-character VIN off your vehicle, and whether the car is 4x2 or 4x4 if it is a truck or SUV. That is enough for us to identify the exact unit, including the CVT versus automatic question and the tow, emissions and build-date splits.
