Why Buy a 2000 GMC Transmission from Auto Power Source
Every 2000 GMC transmission here is a used OEM unit pulled from a low-mileage donor vehicle, cleaned, inspected and bench-tested before it is listed. We hold 133 of them for the 2000 model year alone, which is why we can name the exact box rather than offer you a generic four-speed and hope it bolts up.
2000 is the hardest GMC year to shop by nameplate, because GM was running two truck generations at once. The new GMT800 Sierra 1500 and Sierra 2500 had arrived while the heavy-duty pickups carried on in the old Classic body as C2500, K2500, C3500, C3500HD and K3500. A 2000 three-quarter-ton is therefore either a GMT800 Sierra 2500 on a 6.0L or a Classic C/K 2500 on a 5.7L, 7.4L or 6.5L diesel, and the two do not share a gearbox fitment.
The headline trap is the Yukon XL. 2000 is the first model year for the name, and the listings carry no displacement at all — just 4x2 or 4x4. A Yukon XL 1500 is a half-ton on the 4L60E; a Yukon XL 2500 is a three-quarter-ton on the 4L80E. Same badge wording, same body, different box, because the chassis decides. We match the donor VIN to your VIN so the right one ships.
Two things that are true of 2001 and later are not true here, and both cost people money. There is no Allison 1000 in a 2000 GMC — it arrives for 2001 — so every heavy-duty automatic on this page is a 4L80E. And there is no 4L65E yet either, so every half-ton automatic is a 4L60E regardless of displacement. A 2001 unit is not a drop-in substitute.
Manual trucks need the same care. 2000 holds three boxes: the NV1500 behind the 2.2L compacts, the NV3500 behind the 4.3L compacts and the half-ton Sierra, and the NV4500 in the Classic C/K 2500 and 3500. Two GMT800 Sierra 2500 6.0L manuals name no box at all, so we read the VIN before anything ships.
Shipping is free to the lower 48, every unit carries our warranty, and an ASE-certified technician confirms the match against your VIN in writing before you pay. Text +1-307-441-5554, email info@autopowersource.com or call 1-877-313-8995.
