S80, XC90, XC60, XC70, V70, S60, V60, S40, V50, C30, C70 (2005–2016). Our deepest Volvo line — the six-speed behind the SI6 sixes and the 2.5T fives, with FWD and AWD versions that differ at the angle-gear output.

Aisin AWF8F35 8-Speed Geartronic (Drive-E)

S60, V60, XC60, XC90, S90, V90, XC40 (2015+). The eight-speed behind the Drive-E 2.0 T5 and T6 — T5, T6 and T8 hybrid units carry different torque ratings and calibrations.

Aisin AW55-50SN / AW55-51SN 5-Speed Geartronic

S60, V70, XC70, XC90 2.5T, S80 2.9, S40, V50 (2001–2009). The five-speed of the P2 generation — listings carry turbo, drivetrain and engine-code detail because the unit changed with each.

M66 6-Speed Manual

S40 and V50 T5, C30 T5, C70, S60 R and V70 R AWD, S60 T5 (2004–2013). The six-speed manual — the R-model AWD version carries the angle-gear output and does not swap with the FWD unit.

M56 / M58 5-Speed Manual

850, S70, V70, S60, V70, S40, V40 (1993–2010). The transverse five-speed of the whiteblock era — the M56 behind the naturally aspirated fives, the heavier M58 behind the turbos.

AW50-42 4-Speed Automatic

850, S70, V70, S40, V40, C70 (1993–2001). The Aisin four-speed behind the first transverse Volvos — the 850 and S70 units differ from the S40 unit and neither interchanges with the later AW55.

AW70 / AW71 4-Speed Automatic (RWD)

240, 740, 940, 960 (1991–1995). The Borg-Warner-derived RWD automatic — listings note the crank-sensor notch and the AW72 variant because the 240 and 940 units are not identical.

M90 5-Speed Manual (RWD)

940, 960, S90 and V90 (1991–1998). The last rear-wheel-drive Volvo manual — turbo and non-turbo 940 units are listed separately.

AWD Transmissions with Haldex Angle Gear

XC70, XC90, XC60, S60 and V60 AWD, V70 AWD, S80 AWD (1998+). AWD units carry the angle-gear output the FWD versions lack, and the Haldex coupling generation must match the year — the listings say FWD or AWD on every unit.
