Why Buy a 2018 Ford F-Series Transmission from Auto Power Source
The 2018 F-Series sits at a critical transmission generational crossover. February 26, 2018 marks the production cutoff when Ford swapped the 6R80 six-speed behind the 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L Coyote V8 for the all-new 10R80 ten-speed automatic — the unit jointly developed with GM. That makes 2018 the single most-likely F-Series transmission year to receive the wrong unit from a careless seller. F-250 and F-350 Super Duty continued with the 6R140 TorqShift heavy-duty six-speed, but the bellhousing keying differs between the 6.2L Boss V8 and the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel — a mismatch will not bolt up.
All 29 of our verified 2018 F-Series transmissions have been pulled from low-mileage donor trucks, cataloged by VIN, and held in our climate-controlled warehouse pending sale. Each unit went through our six-step inspection — VIN-matching, ASE Shift-Testing through every gear, noise verification, full visual inspection of bellhousing/tailshaft/cooler lines, multi-angle photography sent before shipment, and palletized freight. Our ASE-certified technicians do the testing; rejected units never reach the buyer.
You pay a fraction of dealer-new pricing for identical Ford engineering, ship free on a heavy-duty pallet anywhere in the continental U.S., and you have 30 days from delivery to return for any reason — no restocking fees, no return freight charges. Up to a 3-year warranty covers you if anything goes wrong after install. With 46,000+ engines and transmissions shipped and a 0% fitment-return rate, the risk is removed before your money moves.

2018 Ford F-Series Transmission Buying Guide
Five things to verify before buying a 2018 F-Series transmission:
-
Match the transmission ID code, not the VIN. F-150 used the 6R80 (pre-02/26/18 EcoBoost + Coyote) and the 10R80 (post-02/26/18). Look at the transmission tag, not the build sheet.
-
Confirm 2WD vs 4WD. Tailshaft/extension housing and transfer-case adapter differ. A 4WD 10R80 will not bolt to a 2WD chassis.
-
For Super Duty, verify the bellhousing matches the engine. The 6R140 behind the 6.2L gas V8 has different bellhousing keying than the 6R140 behind the 6.7L Power Stroke.
-
Ask about 10R80 software calibration. Ford issued multiple TSBs on the early 10R80 (shudder, harsh shifts, TC slip). Our team flags units that have received the latest calibration.
-
Verify pickup vs chassis-cab on the 6.7L Power Stroke trucks. Cab-and-chassis F-350/F-450 have different cooler-line routing and tailshaft setup than pickup.
Our ASE-certified technicians verify every one of these points against your VIN before any unit ships.
